About this directory

Satellite communications in China are a licensed basic telecom service, mostly held by state groups, and Starlink is not licensed: ships must switch their terminals off in Chinese waters. This page therefore lists no Starlink reseller. Connectivity is sold by licensed operators on geostationary satellites, while two national LEO constellations and the first licensed satellite IoT networks are being deployed.

Operators selling today

China Satcom, the CASC operating company, runs 19 satellites, Ka-band broadband and the Haixingtong maritime platform. China Telecom Satellite sells Tiantong satellite phones and direct-to-phone service, VSAT, broadband and airborne connectivity. CTTIC, the transport ministry's telecom centre, runs maritime satellite (Inmarsat), search-and-rescue and BeiDou services.

LEO constellations

China SatNet builds Guowang (about 222 satellites in orbit in October 2026) and Spacesail builds Qianfan (about 240), authorized in Brazil. GalaxySpace manufactures broadband, direct-to-phone and Guowang satellites.

Satellite IoT and data

Guodian Gaoke (Tianqi, 41 satellites) and Geespace (GEESATCOM, 64 satellites) received China's first commercial satellite IoT licences in 2026. Starpath Global provides satellite data and satellite leasing.

Our guide to China's constellations explains each network and how it compares with Starlink, Amazon Leo and OneWeb.
