Hispasat

Hispasat is the Spanish satellite operator, headquartered in Alcobendas, near Madrid. Its fleet of geostationary satellites (Hispasat 30W-5, 30W-6, 36W-1 and 74W-1, and Amazonas 2, 3, 5 and Nexus) covers Europe, the Americas and North Africa, with demo rooms in Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Lurín and Mexico. Indra completed the purchase of 89.68% of the company from Redeia for 725 million euros at the end of December 2025, which also gave Indra control of Hisdesat, the operator of Spain's government satellites.

Hispasat sells mostly wholesale: capacity for broadband, mobile backhaul, Wi-Fi hotspots, private networks, video distribution and mobility (ships and aircraft) to telecom operators, internet providers and governments. In Spain it supplied the satellite capacity behind rural broadband programmes, with retail operators handling the installation and the customer relationship.

Hispasat also appears on Starlink's list of authorized resellers, with offices in Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, so it can offer low-orbit capacity alongside its own GEO fleet. In Europe it is one of the three industrial partners of IRIS², the EU's secure multi-orbit constellation, with Eutelsat and SES.

Hispasat is a supplier for operators, integrators and public bodies, not a consumer provider: a household in Spain buys satellite internet from a retail operator or from Starlink directly.
