Overview
Far EasTone Telecommunications is one of Taiwan's three main mobile operators, based in Taipei. On 19 May 2026 it signed an agreement to become an authorized distributor of Amazon Leo in Taiwan, as part of its work on network resilience.
Far EasTone says its 28 GHz spectrum matches the band Amazon Leo uses, an advantage over local rivals. Service needs several approvals, from the Ministry of Digital Affairs for the satellite frequencies to the National Communications Commission; in September 2026 the company said four of six steps were complete and that launch could come in 2027. It targets industries with special needs such as maritime, agriculture and mining, and is also talking to geostationary operators to offer a dual-orbit service.
